Newark residents can pay property taxes online, city says

NEWARK — Newark residents can now pay their property taxes online, the city announced today.

Taxpayers can pay their quarterly tax bill on or pay over the phone at , the city said in a statement.

Residents can use Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover or E-checks to pay their taxes.

Those using a credit or debit card to pay their taxes online or in person at City Hall will be charged an extra 2.25 percent convenience fee with a minimum of $3.75. Those paying with an E-check will be charged a $0.99 fee.

The online and phone payment system went live today.

“We are determined to give our taxpayers the highest quality of services possible, making use of cutting-edge 21st century technology,” Newark mayor Ras Baraka said.

“Enabling taxpayers to pay their property taxes on-line adds to their convenience, our efficiency, and helps us transform Newark into a City we can all believe in.”
