Baraka to host education forum in Newark

NEWARK — Newark mayor Ras Baraka is hosting and a two-day education convention this weekend.

The convention is scheduled to begin on Friday at 6 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, where
People’s Organization for Progress Founder Larry Hamm will lead a panel discussion, the city said in a statement.

The convention is scheduled to continue at Rutgers University's Paul Robeson Campus Center on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., the statement said.

Baraka is scheduled to deliver remarks on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The convention's theme is "Reclaiming the Village," the statement said.
